PACIE Launches K-16 Global Education Series!!

PACIE is sponsoring the following series of webinars for K-12 educators and students.  Some webinars are aimed specifically at teachers; some, at students.  All the webinars, though, share a specific component of global education, offer networking opportunities to participants, and include collaboration with higher education staff.  Let’s create global-ready graduates for PA!

Below is the list of webinar topics by month.  Please check back for specific dates if they are not yet listed.  Click where indicated to register for specific webinars and to get more detailed information.  Note that some webinars have host schools, but we hope to include more than one classroom group in all the webinars. PACIE invites k-12 educators and students to attend our panel of study abroad coordinators who will share the nuts and bolts of study abroad and how to plan for it, starting before college.  Several examples of successful programs will be shared by coordinators and college students who studied abroad.  Bring your questions!

Have you ever added a global focus to a unit or lesson? Does your school sponsor any multicultural or international activities? Bring a good idea or two and join this networking session to share your successes with colleagues from across the state. Leave the meeting recharged with new ideas to try in the coming weeks! Although this session is aimed at K-12 educators, PACIE welcomes input from all levels of education.

Fields of Study for International Careers

“I want to pursue an international career, but what do I study for that?  What skills do I need?”  PACIE hopes to give you and your students some insight into these questions.  Join panelists from across PA who will help your students learn how to develop global competence in order to compete and to achieve in a global world  Representatives from colleges will share examples of applicable programs, and professionals from the workforce will share their practical insights.

Study/Work Abroad for Teachers

The experience of study/work abroad is not only for college students!  Teachers can still have global adventures!  Teachers can explore the world at low cost (or no cost) through various programs and grants.   Meet our K-12 panelists who have traveled the world in the name of professional development and learn how they achieved that.  Program descriptions,  requirements, advantages/disadvantages, and application processes will be shared.  Both you and your students will benefit from your new global skills and your travel experiences.  Dream a dream!!

On Tuesday, November 10, 2020, Adam DePaul, a tribal council member of the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania, presented on Cultural Humility and and Historical Understanding – Understanding What is Now Pennsylvania through Indigenous Experience. This event was part of the Haverford College Center for Peace and Global Citizenship's 20th Anniversary Series.

 

Global-Local Curricular Connections and Experiential Education
On Friday, October 16, 2020, members of the Global Engagement in the Liberal Arts Conference Community, along with the Community-based Global Learning Collaborative, joined together for this important and current conversation. This event was part of the Haverford College Center for Peace and Global Citizenship’s 20th anniversary series.
